Galíni Ceramic Collection
Mid-fire clays, ceramic stains and glaze
Galíni is the Greek word for serenity and calmness, often used to describe the stillness of the sea and a peaceful state of mind. This sense of quiet balance and tranquility lies at the heart of the collection.
Drawing inspiration from the colours and atmosphere of Greece, the work reflects the soft aquas and coastal turquoises of the Aegean Sea, the deep blues of the ocean, and the gentle whites of sunlit architecture. The vessel forms reference ancient Greek pottery, while simple geometric patterns and clean, balanced lines draw from mid-century design and modernist aesthetics.
Handbuilt using mid-fire clays, ceramic stains and glaze, each piece is created with a focus on harmony, craftsmanship and restraint. Through considered forms, layered colour and tactile surfaces, the collection seeks to evoke a sense of calm, connection and place.
Galíni was developed as my final body of work for the Diploma of Ceramics at Northern Beaches TAFE in 2025. My hope is that these vessels offer moments of stillness, peace and serenity to those who encounter them.
